ASTERIADIS S.A. is the successor of NICOLAOS ASTERIADIS enterprise, established in 1955 by Mr. Nikolaos Asteriadis, thus being today the oldest existing company in the field of scientific instruments and laboratory equipment.
The company started its activities through a small office in Thessaloniki and -until 1965 - was operating mainly as a Northern Greece dealer of scientific instruments for various importers-distributors in Athens.
The main product line was initially educational instrumentation for universities, schools, etc. This product line quickly expanded through new cooperation in the field of laboratory equipment.
In 1967 the company sets up a branch office in Athens.
A co-operation with JEOL starts in 1972 in the field of Electron Microscopy and within the first year NICOLAOS ASTERIADIS becomes the market leader, selling 3 instruments. We are still leading the Electron Microscopy market.
In 1978 a new co-operation begins with SHIMADZU, thus expanding company’s activities in the field of Analytical Instruments.
ASTERIADIS S.A. is established in 1985. Activities of the new company are the Trade of Analytical and Scientific Instruments and the Representation and Import of Industrial Raw Materials, Equipment and Materials for Electronics and Electrotechnics.

A fully staffed Service Department, with highly trained employees (Electronics Engineers, Physicists and Chemists with post grad and doctorate degrees) and many years of experience, equipped with all the necessary resources, provides timely and effective support in the fields of installations, training, applications, methodology, maintenance, fault correction and quality control (IQ/OQ/PQ) for all the products that the company supplies.
The customer is advised regarding space requirements, environmental requirements, electricity supply specifications, and details of gas supply or water supply requirements. The space is inspected before installation.
Every instrument or device is installed in strict compliance to manufacturers’ instructions. After installation, the operation of the instrument or device is checked according to manufacturers’ specifications. The customer has the option to request a fully documented IQ/OQ test.
Every installed instrument is tracked through its serial number, as every service or maintenance operation is recorded, and the full history of the instrument is always available on file. Every installed instrument is accompanied by a formal guarantee declaration.
Besides basic training for the use of the instrument, the customer may optionally select to receive a fully tested specific application, which will be developed by our application department.
This service refers to closely examining the specific customer needs and developing a fully functioning daily procedure, which may include:

<li>Developing, applying and testing a comprehensive method to process the samples</li>
<li>Collecting, filing and analyzing the data</li>

In addition, every necessary investment has been made to equip our engineers with state-of-the-art testing equipment, which is properly maintained and yearly certified in independent laboratories.
Fully appreciating the importance of instrument qualification in ensuring the integrity of the results, our company is offering this service for the instruments that we supply, in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions. In addition, the Calibration and Testing Laboratory of N. ASTERIADIS S.A. is certified by HELLENIC ACCREDITATION SYSTEM S.A. (E.SY.D.) to perform calibration and testing of spectrophotometers according to the EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard.
