About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of traditional and modern sushi techniques, a commitment to quality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty items
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and freshness
- Handle and store seafood according to food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen areas
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Create new menu items and seasonal specials as appropriate
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with guests (e.g., at sushi bar)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and knife skills
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with good communication skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Culinary certification or formal training is a plus
