About the Role
The Sommelier oversees the wine program, curating the selection and advising on ideal pairings to enhance the dining experience. Their role is to help create memorable moments for guests while delivering outstanding service and ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Main Responsibilities
- Opens, presents and serves wine and Champagne bottles in accordance with service standards
- Recommends wine pairings that best enhance menu offerings
- Develops and refreshes wine menus as needed
- Oversees inventory of the wine cellar, service equipment, and glassware, ensuring adequate stock levels
- Trains and mentors servers and bartenders on wine knowledge and service
- Ensures compliance with all state and local alcohol service regulations
Requirements
- Sommelier certification (such as WSET or an equivalent credential) is preferred
- At least two years of experience as a Sommelier in a 5-star resort
- Strong familiarity with vineyards and wineries
- Excellent command of English; additional languages are an asset
