2. JOB DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS
Job Summary
Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve computer
problems for clients in person, via telephone or from remote location. May provide assistance
concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems and that they are in compliance with One&Only
Resorts standards of operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
▪ Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following
design or installation specifications.
▪ Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
▪ Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable,
operating systems, and appropriate software.
▪ Maintain record of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken,
and installation activities.
▪ Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate
and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
▪ Confer with staff, users to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
▪ Develop training materials and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and
software.
▪ Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for
service.
▪ Prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades.
▪ Read trade magazines and technical manuals and attend conferences and seminars to maintain
knowledge of hardware and software.
▪ Supervise and coordinate workers engaged in problem-solving, monitoring, and installing data
communication equipment and software.
▪ Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
▪ Answer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve
problems.
▪ Observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
▪ Support the information system function within the resorts using appropriate systems
management procedures and practices to ensure the operating effectiveness and integrity of
data.
▪ Fulfill 7*24 hours on call duties as required.
▪ Develops the technical and managerial skills required for rapid advancement to a Manager MIS
position within the company.
▪ In charge for the entire network maintenance, which includes administration and computer
networks, telephone and cable TV networks.
▪ In charge for the systems management and new projects.
▪ Use and handles IT equipment with care.
▪ Attends briefings and meetings as requested.
▪ Attends all necessary trainings
▪ Maintains high spirit among the IT Department colleagues, as well as other resorts colleague.
▪ Contributes to the moral and team spirit of the resorts, by maintaining effective relationships with
resort colleagues.
▪ Planning and assisting in PC migration projects
▪ Documenting IT processes and procedures
▪ Handling windows servers including back-up
▪ Supporting and upgrading of infrastructure related projects in compliance with the Resorts
corporate policies & legal requirements.
▪ Performing any other tasks as assigned. Support & Maintenance of I.T. infrastructure including
telecommunications.
▪ Provide Systems Administration.
▪ Role is very much customer facing; whether this is internal customers (colleague) or external
customers (hotel guests); must fit into this environment, and be able to present them,
accordingly, including representing the department at the HOD meetings and the daily and
fortnightly operation meetings only when needed.
▪ Performs any additional duties and/or special projects as requested by the General Manager.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
▪ Degree or Diploma in Networks Engineering or similar, a Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP)
and or MCP/MCSE Foundation Certificate would be added advantage.
▪ Minimum of 2 to 3 years working experience in similar positions
▪ Knowledge of Opera PMS /Micros 9700 POS system to medium to large organisations
▪ Knowledge of operating multiple complex IT software systems.
▪ Excellent communication and time management skills
