Role Overview

The Commis Chef is responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of food for guests and staff under the supervision of the Head Chef.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Preparing ingredients and assisting in the preparation of dishes as directed by the Chef de Partie or the Demi Chef de Partie
  • Following proper cooking procedures and techniques to ensure food is prepared in line with health and safety standards
  • Maintaining cleanliness of workstations, tools, and kitchen equipment
  • Assisting with dishwashing and cleaning duties as required during and after service
  • Following guidelines for food storage, ensuring all products are stored safely and labeled correctly
  • Helping with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning
  • Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Supporting team members during peak times by working efficiently and remaining organized

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or cooking role is an advantage
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
