Job Summary
Reporting to the Restaurant manager and following all Em Sherif policies and procedures, the Assistant Restaurant manager is responsible for the overall performance of the assigned outlet, including but not limited to maintaining high Food & Beverage service, health and safety standards in both the Front of House and the Back of House daily operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Front of House Operations
- Supervise and manage all FOH daily operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to Em Sherif’s standards of service, productivity, and quality.
- Oversee dining room setup, cleanliness, and readiness before and during service; be present for restaurant opening and closing.
- Monitor FOH team performance and delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain proper communication between FOH and BOH by working closely with the Head Chef.
- Follow up on FOH maintenance issues and ensure hygiene, safety, and equipment upkeep.
- Stay updated on all company policies, promotions, services, entertainment offerings, menus, and daily changes, and communicate them clearly to the FOH team.
- Contribute to operational improvements, focusing on maximizing profits while minimizing costs.
- Ensure adequate staffing at all times and manage scheduling to meet operational needs.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Deliver a personalized and memorable service to all guests, ensuring their satisfaction from arrival to departure.
- Monitor guest experiences, anticipate needs, and respond promptly to special requests or concerns.
- Address guest complaints professionally, escalating to the Restaurant Manager when necessary.
- Visit tables regularly to ensure guest satisfaction and encourage feedback.
- Review guest satisfaction results and work with the team to implement corrective actions when needed.
- Be fully knowledgeable about Em Sherif’s service procedures, entertainment, menus, daily formulas, and beverages to confidently answer guest inquiries.
Procurement & Inventory
- Control product inventory and order supplies for the FOH section in line with operational requirements.
- Ensure stock levels are maintained according to Em Sherif’s set par levels and quality standards.
Team Management
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in identifying FOH training needs and developing training plans.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate FOH personnel; provide performance feedback and development support.
- Ensure all staff are well-presented, groomed, and dressed according to Em Sherif’s standards.
- Conduct and participate in daily and weekly briefings with the FOH team to align on service expectations and operations.
- Support employee retention by fostering a fair, equitable, and motivating work environment.
- Ensure that daily checklists and operational procedures are completed by FOH employees.
Accounting & Administration
- Review daily POS sales reports and, in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, approve discounts, complimentary items, and daily cash deposits.
- Prepare weekly FOH staff schedules and ensure compliance with staffing requirements.
- Ensure all administrative tasks and reporting are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain the daily restaurant logbook and communicate relevant updates to management.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or Business Management, or equivalent years of proven management experience.
- Strong leadership with a proven record of team management.
- Minimum 2 years as an Assistant Restaurant Manager, preferably in a Lebanese/Oriental restaurant.
- High commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and professional grooming.
- Excellent customer service mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, POS systems, finance, accounting, and cash handling.
- Knowledgeable in food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines.
- Excellent command of English and Greek (oral and written); good command of Arabic or another foreign language is an asset.
