Job Summary

The Hostess's primary objective is to greet customers as they arrive, thank them for their visit upon departure and ensure that the Em Sherif guest’s dining experience exceeds expectations. The Hostess is responsible for managing reservations to maintain an overall smooth 
operation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Answer the phone and take dining reservations using proper telephone techniques.
• Record all reservations on the reservation book.
• Ensure that the reservation book is updated with the latest bookings for events, special requests, etc.
• For all advance reservations, ensure that the FOH team is aware of guest arrival times, seating arrangements and any applicable details to ensure efficient, quality service.
• Ensure the Host area is not left unattended.
  • Monitor cleanliness and set up of the host desk, reservation book/computer, dining area, main 
  entrance, restrooms and menus throughout the service period.
• Maintain orderly appearance of Host station and ensure that it is stocked with Em Sherif amenities and menus.
• Greet guests warmly, confirm their reservation, requests and escort them to their table.
• Carefully allocate seating to maintain a smooth service flow.
• Ensure proper application of Em Sherif’s opening and closing procedures.
• Track the availability of open tables throughout the shift.
• Be knowledgeable about Em Sherif service procedures, entertainment, daily formulas and beverages to be able to inform guests and answer any related questions.
• Deliver a personalized service to all guests.
• Monitor guests’ experience and ensure satisfaction by responding promptly and courteously to any special requests.
• Redirect guest complaints to the Assistant restaurant manager/Restaurant manager.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

• High commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and excellent customer service.
• Strong social, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with a friendly and patient approach.
• Strong planning and organizational abilities; knowledgeable in bookkeeping, reservations procedures, Microsoft Office, POS systems, and restaurant emergency protocols.
• Professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Host, preferably in an Oriental/Lebanese restaurant.
• Minimum high school degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management is a plus.
• Strong command of English and Arabic (oral and written); good command of French or another foreign language is an asset.
