Role Summary

As a Neilson Hotel Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of one of our vibrant mountain hotels, delivering exceptional guest experiences, operational efficiency, and strong financial performance. 

You will lead and motivate a multi-functional team while ensuring every aspect of the hotel runs smoothly and aligns with Neilson’s high service standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong people management, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for delivering memorable holiday experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and professional environment throughout the hotel.
  • Proactively engage with guests to understand and exceed their expectations.
  • Act on guest feedback to continually improve service standards.
  • Promote Neilson Mountain Expert sessions, encourage guest participation, and gather feedback.
  • Ensure dietary and allergen needs are met in accordance with Neilson’s HACCP policies.

Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, and lead a motivated, high-performing hotel team.
  • Deliver comprehensive pre-season and ongoing training to maintain service excellence.
  • Set clear objectives and provide regular performance feedback and coaching.
  • Manage staff rotas, HR administration, and compliance with local employment laws.
  • Promote a positive team culture through recognition, incentives, and planned social events.
  • Apply disciplinary procedures where necessary in accordance with company policies.

Operations & Financial Oversight

  • Manage hotel operations within the allocated budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Monitor stock levels, complete regular inventories, and control wastage across all departments.
  • Drive revenue through the sale of F&B, spa treatments, ski packs, lift passes, equipment rental, tuition, and après-ski activities.
  • Ensure accurate and secure handling of all hotel revenue in line with Neilson guidelines.

Food & Beverage Management

  • Work with kitchen staff to deliver a varied, high-quality 7-day menu.
  • Maintain high standards in food preparation, hygiene, and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with allergen regulations and food safety standards.
  • Seek continuous improvements to the dining experience for all guests.

Facilities & Compliance

  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation across all areas of the hotel.
  • Maintain a safe working and guest environment, adhering to all health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure all branding, signage, and guest information are up to date and in line with company standards.

Performance Management

  • Support seasonal recruitment and onboarding in collaboration with the HR team.
  • Identify training needs and implement development plans for hotel staff.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and individual performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and achievement across the hotel team.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in Hotel Management is essential
  • Background in hospitality or catering;
  • Proven experience managing teams, delivering customer service, and meeting sales targets.
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working overseas, ideally in a seasonal or resort environment, is beneficial.
  • Skiing or snowboarding experience preferred.
  • Language skills (especially French and Greek) are advantageous.
