The role of sommelier:

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and the Head Sommelier, you will be responsible for supporting the Atelier Restaurant Sommelier operation with passion and creativity, ensuring exceptional service and attention to our guests.

Responsibilities will include working closely with the Food and Beverage Leadership Team in designing the wine lists and recommending food and wine pairing, engaging with our guests and recommending wines to complement their taste preferences and meal experience, controlling costs through effective purchasing decisions, inventory control and cost control measures, being highly visible in the operation, promoting good public relations and taking care of special requests with a dedication to providing an attentive and distinctive experience for our guests.

Our ideal sommelier candidate will have:

A special talent and passion for ensuring you and the team deliver the highest of standards consistently and ensuring exceptional service and attention to our guests. You should have a certified wine and beverage education (WSET or equivalent), an in-depth knowledge of wine and wine services techniques, experience in luxury hotels and/or stand-alone restaurants or restaurant groups, preferably have a minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience in a restaurant in the same position, attention to detail, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, the ability to multitask with excellent organizational skills, be a team player and have a highly creative flair, bringing your personal touch and energy to our guest experiences so that you can respond by working with a list awarded by the star wine list & Decanter magazine.

Requirements

  1. Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills
  2. Previous experience in a related position
  3. Previous customer experience and ability to work effectively under pressure
  4. Wine, food knowledge and passion
  5. Degree from Genius in Gastronomy or WSET 2/3
  6. You must possess the legal right to work in Greece and have fluency in English.
  7. Experience in a similar position in a 5* hotel or fine dining restaurant.
