Area Manager


The role:

The Area Manager will play a key role in leading and expanding the Food Service (HO.RE.CA.) business segment across Greece. Responsible for managing operations, driving sales, and strengthening market presence. The Area Manager will oversee a portfolio of products across multiple customer categories (bakeries, mini markets, restaurants, catering services, school canteens). Based in Athens with direct responsibility for a team of eight Inspectors in Athens the Area Manager will bring expertise, leadership, and hands-on market knowledge to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Market Expansion & Sales Growth: Drive sales and profitability in the Food Service sector, focusing on expanding market share in bulk products.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, guide, and develop a team of Sales Supervisors, ensuring performance, motivation, and continuous training.
  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with key HO.RE.CA. accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, handling escalations, and supporting new product launches.
  • Operational Excellence: Coordinate daily sales activities, oversee reporting and performance tracking, and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • New Product Launches: Support go-to-market strategy, ensuring effective introduction and adoption of new SKUs (over 200 product codes in the portfolio).
  • Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and sales representatives, managing operational challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Cross-Regional Coordination: Ensure smooth collaboration between Athens-based operations and regional teams, leveraging local networks and customer portfolios.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a sales role within the Food Service or HO.RE.CA. sector.
  • University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in competitor companies within the Food Service industry (bringing market know-how).
  • In-depth knowledge of the HO.RE.CA. market and its specific characteristics.
  • Strong number-oriented mindset, able to drive sales, meet KPIs, and achieve targets.
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills –coaching, motivating, and developing staff.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially for operational or client-related challenges.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to coordinate multiple accounts, regions, and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage a large client portfolio on a daily basis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with good command of English when required.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to conduct regular market and point-of-sale visits.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, sales analytics, and reporting software.
  • Experience with cross-regional teams and multi-location coordination.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service standard.
