Job Summary

The Manager, Retail, manage and organize all requirements for the boutiques to the highest standards and in accordance to the standard operating procedures as determined. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent product knowledge of the overall retail operation.
  • Participates in the service of any special retail functions or events organized by department.
  • Ensures that channels of communication are respected, and information is disseminated to the correct receivers.
  • Ensures excellent communication and working relationships with colleagues are maintained and contribute to the team spirit.
  • Ensures that all boutique areas are clean, organized and free of errors.
  • Delegates responsibilities to boutique personnel and ensures tasks are completed on time.
  • Assists in conducting performance appraisals for colleagues and ensures they are completed on time.
  • Continuously trains and motivates subordinates to ensure resorts standards are maintained.
  • Assist the Colleagues with developing the knowledge, skills and competency levels of all employees within the Department
  • Ensures expiree dates are labelled on products that are required.
  • Supervises the collection and distribution of outlet incentives.
  • Assists in controlling all the cost and expenses as per monthly budget set by retail department.
  • Understands the P&L monthly reporting structure.
  • Complies with the Resort’s purchasing and stores requisitioning procedures, in respect of Internal and external supplies.
  • Presents oneself in a way that enhances the overall guest experience, by adding life and energy to the boutique operation.
  • Generates reports for the retail outlets and ensures that they are delivered to the correct receivers as per deadline
  • Organize and coordinates special boutique functions/events as required by the ADOR.
  • Generate or assists manager in generating work schedules & vacation planner for restaurant employees, according to forecasted demand requirements.
  • In the absence of the manager, the assistant manager attends morning briefings and passes information to boutique team.
  • Delegates responsibilities to all employees and ensures tasks are completed timeously
  • Remains current on all resort happenings, including guests in-house, arrivals and departures as well as daily events.
  • Conducts daily briefings together with Associate Director and plans training once a week with team members.
  • Handle guest requests and complaint in an effective and efficient manner to satisfy all relevant stakeholders.
  • Must participate in required training organized by learning & development center.
  • Apply and adhere to rules and regulations as per employee handbook, departmental and resort policies and procedures, including those for the emergency situations
  • Ensures all activities are carried out honestly, ethically and within the parameters of the Maldivian Law
  • Develops and maintains team morale. Creating sales incentive to motivate team.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • To be a confident trainer with exceptional selling skills
  • Visual Merchandising experience
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Micros) including retail inventory system experience
