E-Commerce Director
The E-Commerce Director is responsible for leading and managing the entire e-commerce strategy, ensuring the seamless operation and optimization of the company's online sales channels. This role focuses on increasing online revenue, improving the customer experience, and ensuring efficient e-commerce operations. The E-Commerce Director collaborates closely with marketing, IT, logistics, and product teams to drive growth and implement best practices for the online business.
Key Responsibilities:
- E-Commerce Strategy & Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy to drive online sales, customer engagement, and market share growth.
- Align e-commerce activities with the overall business goals and marketing objectives.
- Identify new online market opportunities and emerging digital trends to stay ahead of the competition.
- Lead the expansion of e-commerce into new markets and platforms (including mobile, international markets, and marketplaces).
- Website Management & Optimization:
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the company's e-commerce website, ensuring a high-quality user experience.
- Manage the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the website, ensuring seamless navigation, searchability, and purchasing processes.
- Implement website optimization techniques to improve site speed, responsiveness, conversion rates, and overall performance.
- Monitor website analytics (e.g., traffic, conversions, bounce rates) and continuously optimize for better performance.
- Digital Marketing & Sales Growth:
- Work with the digital marketing team to drive traffic and sales through SEO, PPC, email marketing, social media, content marketing, and affiliate programs.
- Create and oversee promotions, discounts, and marketing campaigns that drive conversions and maximize ROI.
- Develop strategies to increase customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value (LTV) through effective loyalty programs and personalized experiences.
- Track and analyze customer data to develop targeted marketing efforts that increase sales and engagement.
- Merchandising & Product Management:
- Ensure that product listings are optimized for search, presentation, and conversion, including high-quality images, detailed product descriptions, and accurate pricing.
- Collaborate with the merchandising and inventory teams to ensure product availability, pricing accuracy, and timely restocking.
- Implement strategies for cross-selling, upselling, and product recommendations to increase average order value (AOV).
- Technology & Systems Management:
- Oversee the integration of e-commerce platforms with back-end systems such as inventory management, ERP, CRM, and payment gateways.
- Work closely with the IT team to ensure smooth platform functionality, security, and scalability.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve the e-commerce experience, including personalization tools, chatbots, and customer service solutions.
- Operations & Fulfillment:
- Ensure efficient pick, pack, and ship operations by coordinating with the logistics and warehouse teams.
- Implement systems for accurate inventory tracking, order management, and delivery logistics to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Optimize e-commerce operations to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage relationships with third-party fulfillment providers and delivery partners (if applicable).
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the e-commerce team, including web developers, digital marketers, content creators, and customer service staff.
- Set clear performance goals and KPIs for the team and ensure continuous professional development.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making within the team.
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Develop and manage the e-commerce budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across marketing, operations, and technology.
- Monitor and report on e-commerce KPIs, including revenue growth, conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, return on investment (ROI), and profitability.
- Present regular reports to senior leadership on the performance of the e-commerce business and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, E-Commerce, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 7-10+ years of experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, or online retail, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce), web analytics, and online marketing tools.
- Proven ability to drive online sales growth and optimize e-commerce performance.
- Experience managing e-commerce operations, including fulfillment, inventory management, and logistics.
- Excellent knowledge of digital marketing techniques, including SEO, PPC, email marketing, and social media marketing.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Leadership experience with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in managing omnichannel or multichannel retail operations.
- Familiarity with international e-commerce and cross-border logistics.
- Proficiency in using Google Analytics, A/B testing tools, CRM systems, and other digital tools.
- Knowledge of emerging e-commerce technologies and trends (e.g., AI personalization, AR shopping).
