Senior Embedded Software Engineer

1. Overall objective of the position

Develop state-of-the-art firmware for the digital monitoring, control and/or the communications of power electronics products that will allow the mother company to remain a leader in technological advancements of the power supply market.

2. Main objectives of the position

• Transfer product requirements to consistent actual software specifications.
• Ensure that assigned projects are completed strictly within time-schedule, with minimum development and manufacturing costs, with high quality and fully compliant to agreed-upon parameters as per requirements.
• Ensure that development, testing and optimization of the power electronics products is conducted according to the specifications and company guidelines.
• Establish a fully functional communication between interfaces with other affected functional areas of the company, such as marketing, hardware design, quality, etc.
• Provide full support to manufacturing and quality assurance in the event of problems with the products released in series production.
• Verify that the required standards, procedures and norms are adhered to.

3. Key tasks

• Participate in the technological development of the products in the area of responsibility.
• Participate in the development of new product specifications.
• Participate in the coordination of order execution for engineering projects - scheduling internal and external resources, coordinating with customers and vendors.
• Develop and optimize firmware concepts according to specification.
• Work closely and coordinate with other affected functional areas of the company.
• Provide technical support and oversee material procurement, prototyping, simulation and testing of developed projects.
• Assist in qualification of prototypes with internal and external agencies.
• Create required technical documentation in accordance with company guidelines.
• Support the production and quality department in case of problems in series production.

4. Required skills / criteria

a) Mandatory requirements

• 5-year electrical engineering studies with focus in the field of microcontroller programming, digital control of power electronics and/or digital communications or comparable (polytechnic school software/electronics engineering studies).
• Very good experience in object-oriented programming with C/C++.
• Experience in the use of software engineering design and development tools (e.g., Eclipse, Git, VS Code, etc.)
• Work experience of 5 to 15 years on embedded software programming
• Confident handling of industrial communication protocols
• Very good use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Fluency and high-level knowledge of English language
• Military obligations completed (in case of male candidate)

b) Appreciated extra skills (not mandatory)

• Experience on Matlab and Simulink
• Knowledge of Python
• Experience on ARM and particularly on STM microcontrollers
• Knowledge of digital control techniques and PWM applications on power electronics circuits
• Knowledge of German language
