Maintenance Technician
Purpose and Objective
To ensure continuous availability and reliability of production test equipment
Key Areas of Responsibility
Production/Factory Support
- Immediate response to production stoppages
- Diagnosis of production problems and corrective actions
- Overtime and standby support during periods of peak production
- Doing regular preventative maintenance
- Managing jig commissioning and de-commissioning online changeovers
Test Equipment (Hardware)
- Minor Hardware Development (Electrical & Mechanical)
- Commissioning test equipment
Subcontractor Support
- Monitoring sub-contractor test equipment needs.
- Providing technical backup / advice where required (inc. site visits)
Maintenance
- Regular preventative maintenance of production test equipment
Line Setup & Changeover
- Setup of new production lines
- Changeover of production lines between products
Workshop Responsibilities
- Looking after tools (own and team)
- Ensuring proper storage of test equipment when not in use.
- Maintain tidiness of workspace (own and team)
Repairs and Quality Control
- Provide technical support to Production Repair Line
- Provide technical support to Quality Control
Production Process
- Providing input during production process design and implementation
- Monitoring of production processes for quality and efficiency
- Ensure adherence to process instructions
General
- Overtime and standby support when factory works overtime
- Due to the nature of the position, requirements may vary from time to time and the Technician would be required to remain flexible in his duties as far as he is capable
Required skills
- National Diploma
- Minimum 2-3 years demonstrated experience of test equipment design, construction and testing
- Demonstrated experience of working effectively in a multi-cultural environment
- General ability to operate mechanical workshop tools
- Familiar with factory environment
- Practical & can work with hands esp. good mechanical sense
- Able to understand and work with circuit diagrams and translate them to built up PCB’s
- Able to work with deadlines. Ability to plan ahead and work to a self appointed schedule
- Willing to take instruction from more senior technicians/ engineers
- Technical fault finding ability.
- Logical and systematic. Comfortable with faultfinding tools e.g. Oscilloscope
- General ability to operate mechanical workshop tools
- Able to work unsupervised
