Responsibilities

• Monitors and addresses technical and legal environmental matters of the Power Production Units Operation Department for Natural Gas (DEMFA), in cooperation with the competent Department
• Ensures compliance of the operation of the Thermal Power Plants (TPPs) with all applicable environmental obligations, as well as the proper implementation of their Environmental Management Systems
• Prepares Preliminary Environmental Impact Studies and Environmental Impact Studies (EIS), submits them to the competent authorities and monitors their approval procedures for all Stations of the Power Production Units Operation Department for Natural Gas (DEMFA), including those where additional capacity is introduced, in cooperation with the competent Department
• Conducts noise and gaseous pollutant emission measurements at all Stations for which Environmental Operating Terms (EOT) have been issued, in accordance with their provisions
• Designs systems for the treatment of liquid waste, fuel residues and fuel waste recovery, in accordance with relevant legislation and Best Available Techniques

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a University or Diploma in Chemical Engineering
• Experience as a Chemical Engineer related to plant operation, water and waste treatment, control of gaseous pollutant emissions, or in a consulting role involving the preparation of environmental impact studies or the design of pollution control systems will be considered an additional qualification
• Experience as a Chemical Engineer in an industrial environment will be considered an additional qualification
• License to practice the profession of Chemical Engineer
• Good knowledge of the English language
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Internet
• Availability in case of emergency (upon phone contact)
