NPI Project Manager Engineer
The role of the NPI Project Manager Engineer is:
- To lead/support New Product Introductions within the Technical Functions.
- To ensure engineering is aligned with all NPI project functions.
- To plan/manage NPI resources including time and capital expenditure to ensure NPI’s are launched on-time, within budget and deliver agreed NPI objectives defined within each project.
- To technically support all product changes affecting the manufacturing process throughout the product lifetime.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Manage NPI resources (Time/Expenditure) in a planned and organised manner.
- Delivery of project(s) on-time and within budgeted cost as per agreed project schedule and milestones.
- Work as part of a cross-functional NPI team, representing Supply Chain manufacturing engineering.
- Manage changes within project, that affect manufacturing process and Supply Chain by using L+G methods, processes and standard practices.
- Managing changes of product that impact production process through the Engineering Change Management process.
- Specify and procure suitable/capable/cost effective equipment for manufacturing.
- Support Quality in deploying PPAP (DFT – DFA – Process Flow – PFMEA – CP – MSA – Capability Studies – defining process CTQs) in both suppliers and own production.
- Ensure procured equipment meets all legal as well as company requirements in terms of Safety, Environment and Quality perspective.
- Investigate and implement production techniques and best practices.
- Support assembly/production processes in collaboration with Lean & Industrial engineering teams.
Required Skills
- NPI/Project Management experience.
- HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering - time served engineer preferred.
- Flexible, can-do attitude, with well developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and to plan and prioritise their own workload.
- A strong, proactive communicator and leader who works equally well within a team environment as well as on their own. Using their experience and initiative to meet the goals and targets in hand.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of Lean 6S is considered a plus.
