The position supports the Technical Supplies Team by handling the procurement of machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and marine & technical services required for the company’s vessels and factory. The Technical Procurement Engineer follows all established policies and procedures while managing complex technical purchasing tasks.
Key duties include researching, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on price, quality, service, and warranty. The role also involves reviewing technical specifications, preparing bid documents, managing the bidding process, analyzing offers, making recommendations, and issuing purchase orders. Additionally, the position is responsible for maintaining contract files and other relevant documentation.
Responsibilities
Procurement Process
- Executes the complete procurement process for materials and Services, including handling Purchase Requisitions (PR), issuing Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and creating Purchase Orders (PO), in accordance with Asso Group’s business activities, policies, procedures, SAP ERP system, and ethical standards.
- Prepares accurate Commercial Bid Evaluations (CBE) and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and participates actively in commercial negotiations.
- Maintains planned and structured communication with vendors to stay updated on their capabilities, new products, and market developments.
- Develops and maintains a commercially solid vendor base through continuous market research, identification of new supply sources—including non‑traditional suppliers—and supports the upkeep of Asso Group’s Approved Vendor List.
- Monitors and evaluates vendor performance on a continuous basis to ensure reliability, quality, and compliance.
Requirements
- Demonstrated mid‑ to senior‑level experience in technical or marine procurement, with proven ability to manage complex purchasing cycles, supplier negotiations, and high‑value technical evaluations.
- Previous working experience in a similar role or within the maritime industry will be considered an advantage.
- Advanced education in Mechanical, Naval, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field (university degree, technical school, or equivalent experience gained through substantial on‑the‑job practice).
- Experience working with technical contracts and understanding of commercial/technical terms.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) will be considered an additional asset.
