As an Subtitler  – External Contractor your role concerns localizing audiovisual content in-line with the high-quality standards and procedures set by NOVA.  This role is a project-based freelance position, ideal for professionals passionate about language, media, and accessibility.  We offer long-term collaboration with ongoing assignments.

Key responsibilities:

• Create accurate, readable and well-synched subtitles for a diverse range of content included but not limited to films, series, documentaries and TV shows. 
• Adapt idiomatic expressions and cultural references appropriately for target audiences.
• Receive, subtitle and deliver assigned material sent by the Subtitling Production Coordinator within agreed deadlines and according to the standards set by the Subtitling Department.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects effectively.
• Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines, depending on workflow scheduling.

 Qualifications/Requirements:

• Degree in Translation studies (or related fields) and at least 2 years of proven experience in audiovisual translation.
• Excellent command of English and Greek languages (additional languages are a plus).
• Strong attention to detail, linguistic accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
• Familiarity with subtitling software (e.g., EZTitles, Subtitle Edit, or similar). Training on in-house tools will be provided.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of subtitling workflows and accessibility guidelines (SDH, closed captions) will be considered an asset.
