We are seeking a Sommelier to join the team at Parafrasi by CTC, supporting the wine service and assisting guests with thoughtful recommendations from our wine list. The role focuses on understanding guest preferences, recommending wines that complement their food selections and ensuring professional, smooth wine service throughout the dining experience. We are looking for someone with solid wine knowledge, confidence in communication and a natural ability to enhance the guest experience in a refined yet relaxed environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, organizing, and selling wine labels. Also, for promoting and maximizing wine sales. Advising and recommending to guests according to their personal needs.
  • Oversee restaurant wine purchases and cost management.
  • Ensure proper mis-en-place for wine service, as well as correct handling, use, storage, and cleaning of all wine service equipment.
  • Maintain an accurate wine list and propose new wines.
  • Follow restaurant's wine service standards. Ensure that all wines are served and presented to guests in the proper procedure, while making wine and food recommendations.
  • Communicate any issues, challenges and complaints to Restaurant Manager in a timely manner.
  • Ensure restaurant policies, in regard to drinking age limits are followed as well as control alcohol consumption levels by guests.
  • Follow restaurant's guidelines regarding uniforms and personal hygiene.
  • Follow all H&S rules, hotel policies, SOPs, and Brand Standards at all times. Guide and encourage team to do the same.


Requirements

  • Three years of experience in a similar role.
  • High school diploma, associate degree, or WSET Level 2 or above (or equivalent certification).
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Deep passion for wine and wine service.
  • Skilled in operating hotel management systems, including Opera, Micros, and MC, as well as similar software.
  • Strong customer service, sales, and upselling abilities.
  • Solid understanding of pricing strategies, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Focused on revenue generation and maximizing profitability.
