We are currently hiring for our operations in Athens, an IT Specialist.

The Role:

The role of the IT Specialist in Domes Resorts plays a multifaceted and pivotal role, ensuring that technology supports both operational efficiency and positive guest’s experiences. From maintaining network infrastructure and ensuring cybersecurity to troubleshooting software systems and supporting staff, the ideal candidate is integral to the smooth functioning of Domes’ modern businesses. As technology continues to evolve, the role will expand, presenting new challenges and exciting opportunities for innovation within the sector.

Some of the responsibilities:

  • Network Infrastructure Management
    • Responsible for overseeing the Domes’ network infrastructure by ensuring that all servers, routers, switches, and wireless access points function optimally.
    • Monitors performance to avoid network outages or slowdowns that could disrupt guest services or internal operations.
    • Manages firewall settings, intrusion detection systems, and secures networks, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS) for handling payment and personal guest information.
  • Software and Systems Integration
    • Ensures that the PMS (Property Management System) runs smoothly and integrates effectively with other hotel management software such as Point of Sale (POS) systems, housekeeping management tools, and revenue management systems.
    • Maintains systems that focus on enhancing the guest’s experiences, like digital check-ins, in-room technology, guest service apps, and smart room technologies to be users-friendly and function correctly.
    • Also manages other essential business applications used by the company, such as accounting software, T&C management systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and email platforms to be regularly updated and patched.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting
    • Provides technical support for Domes’ staff, ensuring that employees can use the technology effectively with system malfunctions, training them on new software or hardware, and troubleshooting technical problems that may arise.
    • Ensures that all the Domes’ computers, servers, printers, and other technology equipment are in good working order. This includes conducting regular maintenance, replacing faulty equipment, and ensuring that all devices meet the operational needs of the hotel.
  • Cybersecurity and Data Protection
    • Ensures that all data systems and networks are secure from potential cyber threats such as hacking, malware, and phishing attacks. This includes managing antivirus software, applying regular security patches to systems, and performing vulnerability assessments.
    • Also ensures that regular data backups are completed in case of a disaster or a system failure. The IT Specialist designs and implements disaster recovery protocols and ensures that Domes Resorts can restore critical data in the event of a technical failure.
    • Guarantees that Domes Resorts complies with all the relevant regulations regarding guest data protection and storage by being familiar with privacy laws and data protection regulations that apply to the hospitality industry (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).


Requirements

Useful to have:

  • A diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required.
  • Strong network and infrastructure skills with an in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, router/switch configuration, wireless technologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Expertise in network security, firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and data backup/recovery strategies.
  • Proficiency in managing both Windows and Linux-based systems, as well as understanding the integration of various software applications used in hospitality (e.g., PMS, POS systems, booking engines).
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience with a focus on large-scale IT projects, and managing complex systems are required.
  • Knowledge of the English language, a second language will be considered a plus.

  • The ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities is crucial as it needs to coordinate various programs, staff schedules, and administrative duties efficiently.
  • The ability to manage technology-related projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and migrations, while coordinating with other departments and ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
  • A problem-solving approach with an eye to detail to quickly identify and resolve technical issues, minimizing downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Adaptability skills and being able to grasp new learning opportunities as the hospitality industry embraces new technologies.
