We are looking for a Data Engineer for our offices in Athens

A day in the life of a Data Engineer

You will be member of Netcompany-Intrasoft's Data Analytics Competence Center.

You will be part of an international team of data engineers & data scientists implementing a state-of-the-art Big Data projects, that involve the deployment of massively parallel data store and processing engines, the ingestion and analysis of multiple petabytes of data, and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence algorithms that will provide actionable intelligence to the customer.

Your main duties will be:

• Designing, Creating and Maintaining efficient and reliable batch and streaming analytics implementations for very large data sets by utilizing distributed technologies
• Optimizing ingestion and query performance on distributed data stores and SQL engines
• Implementing data extraction, enrichment, processing, and load workflows.
• Performing data analysis, testing, and training
• Identification and exploration of data sources as well as the design of strategic, cross-functional data models for use in multiple analytics projects and integration into a cross-project data layer
• Sharing expertise with other team members and training users to ensure effective utilization of the developed tools and systems.

Qualifications

If you have

• 3+ years of solid experience as a Data Engineer
• Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or equivalent
• Advanced experience with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (including noSQL).
• Several years of experience in building and operating complex IT and cloud architecture as well as CI/CD
• Excellent knowledge of Azure services (e.g. ADF, Databricks, EventHub, ADLS, Monitoring, PowerBI Server, Azure SQL, Synapse, ...), as well as deep understanding of API design and microservices
• Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
• Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
• Experience with technologies like Databricks, Azure Data Explorer and visualization software (e.g., Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI)
• Extensive experience in the application of data modeling, data scrubbing, data cleaning, data lakes
• Programming language skills in relevant data science languages (Python, R) on large data processing frameworks (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Fabrics, Databricks, etc.)
• Experience in building and optimizing ‘big data' data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

It would also be a plus if you had one or more of the below

• Strong experience with big data tools: Flume, nifi, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Azure services
• Deep understanding of API design and microservices
• Strong experience with Databricks, Azure Data Explorer, ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.)
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (such as MongoDB, ElasticSearch, HDFS, Kudu, HBase, Impala, Hive etc)
• Programming skills with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
• Strong technical and digital understanding
• Strong teamwork skills and enthusiasm for cross-functional project work
• Curiosity and a desire to explore technological advancements in the cloud, analytics, and AI domains
• Strong desire for innovation, creative problem-solving, and a hands-on mentality
