About Zero Stray Pawject, Inc
Zero Stray Pawject, Inc is an innovative organization with an advocacy, public health and
animal welfare angle that designs, executes, and measures stray animal prevention
programs to solve the root-cause of stray dogs and cats BEFORE THE DOG OR CAT ENDS
UP STRAY. Zero Stray Pawject is a small and growing NGO with a team of public health, law,
veterinary, animal welfare, business management and economics experts across three
continents. Zero Stray Pawject works closely with municipalities, its mayors and directors
of public health, law enforcement, local veterinarians, and schoolmasters. We design and
execute municipal stray prevention programs that reduce the "production" of stray pets
and at the same time drive societal change that is long term orientated. We ensure to have
clear KPIs in place to measure success.
Zero Stray Pawject has launched a pioneering pilot program in Crete aimed at
systematically and sustainably reducing the stray dog population. This initiative is carried
out in close collaboration with ministries, local governments, mayors, law enforcement,
veterinarians, and animal welfare organizations.
We implement comprehensive dog population management programs. Working in close
collaboration with local municipalities, we provide free microchipping, neutering, and
DNA services to pet owners from vulnerable groups, including low-income households
and other underserved communities. We also extend our services to farmers working with
herding dogs and hunters, helping to ensure that working animals receive responsible
care and are integrated into the national pet registration system.
To address the lack of veterinary access in rural “veterinary desert” areas, we also deliver
veterinary care to pet owners free of charge, ensuring that all pet owners can act
responsibly and maintain their animals’ health.

Our team works closely with Greece’s first Animal Police Department, established in
Crete in March 2025, and leads Crete-wide responsible pet ownership campaigns
across television, radio, outdoor media, influencer partnerships, and social media.
We conduct weekly field clinics in municipal buildings in partnership with local
authorities, which have received strong community interest and engagement. Looking
ahead, we plan to expand our program from 2026 to 2030 to reach even more
communities across the island.
