Job Description

A day in the life of a Senior System Engineer

As a Senior System Engineer, you will be responsible for providing IT identity to Commission users but also to partners users and external users.

Your main duties will be to:

• Handle operational tasks on Oracle Directory server 11.1.1.7.0 and OpenLDAP
  • Stop / Start LDAP server
  • Replication tasks (stop, start, resync, ssl)
  • Perform LDAP queries
  • Indexing jobs
  • Backup of running instance, restore instance from backup
  • Schema updates
  • ACI update
  • Install, configure, update, patch servers
  • Monitor the LDAP servers via in-house scripts (bash, Khs, Perl, PL/SQL)
  • Troubleshooting via LDAP logs
  • Proactive monitoring of LDAP servers
• Manage operating systems maintenance and troubleshooting – Linux RedHat 8
• Operate middleware analysis and troubleshooting - Oracle WebLogic server, Tomcat server
• Work with integration tools - Git, Bamboo, Nexus
• Undertake administrative tasks:
  • Create incidents
  • Manage incidents/request for service/request for info from the outside world
  • Lead change management (create tickets, procedure, documentation)
  • Handle documentation and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Qualifications

If you have:

• Solid experience at least 3 years in UNIX systems 
• Very good knowledge of Oracle SQL/PI SQL 
• Analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
• Very good command in spoken and written English, French is an asset
• Certification in ITIL V3 foundation

It would also be a plus if you had:

• Experience with European Commission
• Expertise in Change and Release Management 
• Familiar with Prince2 / PM² methodologies
• Knowledge of ticketing system 
• Proficient in SharePoint as user
