Senior IT Billing Engineer

Job Description: We are currently looking for an IT Billing Engineer to join our Information Technology & Digital Strategy team, based in Athens, Greece.
As part of the team, you will support the development, maintenance, and optimization of billing systems, ensuring accuracy, performance, and continuous improvement of billing-related processes.
Your role will encompass:

• Develop well-designed, efficient, and testable code to support billing system functionalities.
• Manage billing operations, performing validations, checks, and corrections where necessary.
• Participate in UAT and QAT processes for billing system enhancements and changes.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications and collaborate with third-party developers for implementation.
• Integrate software components into fully functional systems and ensure smooth operation.
• Develop and execute software testing and quality assurance procedures.
• Maintain and update system documentation and ensure software is aligned with latest features and standards.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing billing systems.
• Identify opportunities to optimize and enhance billing processes and systems.
• Provide 3rd level support for billing-related issues and customer care escalations.
• Participate in ad hoc IT and business projects.

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree in Finance or Banking will be considered an asset.
• 5+ years of experience in IT Billing or a similar role, ideally within the retail or utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL); familiarity with non-relational databases is a plus.
• Experience in JavaScript development and solid understanding of software development principles.
• Good understanding of software design patterns and system architecture.
• Familiarity with software engineering tools and practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
