The Director of Cloud Migrations is accountable for planning, executing, and governing large‑scale migrations of applications, platforms, and data from on‑premises and legacy environments to the cloud. This role ensures migrations are secure, repeatable, business‑aligned, and value‑driven, while minimizing risk and disruption.
The role partners closely with Application, Infrastructure, Security, and Business stakeholders to deliver complex migration programs across regions and portfolios.
Migration Strategy & Execution
- Define and own enterprise cloud migration strategy, roadmap, and standards;
- Lead large‑scale application, platform, and data migration programs across regions;
- Ensure consistent use of migration patterns (re‑host, re‑platform, re‑architect, retire).
Program & Delivery Governance
- Establish migration factories, playbooks, and repeatable delivery models;
- Oversee sequencing, dependency management, and risk mitigation;
- Track progress, outcomes, and value realization across migration waves.
Architecture & Engineering Alignment
- Ensure security, compliance, and operational readiness are built into migration designs;
- Validate that migrated workloads meet performance, resilience, and cost objectives.
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
- Act as senior point of accountability for migration commitments;
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to executive stakeholders;
- Align migrations with business priorities and transformation goals.
People & Leadership
- Build migration expertise, standards, and institutional knowledge;
- Foster strong collaboration across engineering, operations, and application teams.
profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience;
- 10–15+ years in cloud, infrastructure, or application modernization roles;
- Proven experience leading large, complex cloud migration programs;
- Deep knowledge of cloud migration tools, frameworks, and patterns;
- Strong multi‑cloud expertise (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating regulated, mission‑critical workloads;
- Strong understanding of application portfolios, dependency mapping, and data migration;
- Ability to balance speed, risk, and quality in large‑scale transformation initiatives.
