As Senior Manager, Developer Experience (DX) & Community Enablement Engineer (Individual Contributor), you will be the developer-first advocate for our pip-installable AI Capabilities SDK. Your mission is to make the SDK intuitive, discoverable, and delightful to use, while enabling a thriving internal and external contribution ecosystem. You will design DX standards, build quickstarts, sample apps, and scaffolding tools, and lead community enablement programs that accelerate adoption and reduce friction.
Why this Role Matters
Even the most powerful SDK fails without great developer experience. This role ensures our AI capabilities are easy to adopt, extend, and contribute to, reducing bespoke engineering and accelerating time-to-first-success across the enterprise. By combining DX engineering with community enablement, you create a multiplier effect for innovation and reuse.
Roles Responsibilities
1) Developer Experience Architecture
- Define DX standards for SDK ergonomics: API clarity, naming conventions, error models, configuration patterns, and backward compatibility.
- Build quickstarts, sample apps, and notebooks for common AI patterns (RAG pipelines, agent workflows, tool integration).
- Develop cookiecutters/CLI scaffolds that prewire tests, telemetry, and guardrails for new modules or contributions.
2) Documentation & Discoverability
- Collaborate with Technical Writers to produce developer-focused guides, tutorials, and code recipes.
- Ensure API docs are complete, searchable, and versioned; integrate doc generation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain pattern libraries and exemplars that show “when, why, and how” to use SDK components.
3) Community Enablement & Contribution Workflows
- Design and maintain open-source-style contribution workflows: feature branches, PR checks, mandatory tests/docs, and review guidelines.
- Build tooling and templates for contributors to extend SDK modules safely and consistently.
4) Feedback Loops & Continuous Improvement
- Capture DX feedback from Digital Creation Centers, FITs, and community contributors; prioritize improvements in APIs, docs, and tooling.
- Partner with DevOps to streamline build/release ergonomics (artifact discoverability, changelogs, migration guides).
- Collaborate with Evaluation & QA Engineers to surface evaluation results in developer-friendly formats (dashboards, diffs vs. baselines).
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- DX quality: Positive developer feedback; reduced onboarding time; faster time-to-first-success.
- Adoption & reuse: Increased SDK usage across products; higher contribution rates from internal teams and community.
- Documentation completeness: API docs and guides consistently meet standards; discoverability improved.
- Contribution workflow efficiency: PR cycle times reduced; compliance with tests/docs near 100%.
- Community engagement: Active participation in enablement programs; measurable impact on SDK evolution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years in software engineering or developer experience roles, with strong focus on SDK/API usability and enablement.
- Proficiency in Python and experience building developer-facing libraries (packaging, semantic versioning, backward compatibility).
- Hands-on experience with DX tooling (cookiecutters, CLI scaffolds, doc generators like Sphinx or MkDocs).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, contribution workflows, and automated doc/test integration.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GenAI/LLM ecosystems (RAG, agent frameworks, MCP adaptors) and their developer integration patterns.
- Familiarity in designing and implementing Developer Experience (DX) evaluation frameworks
- Experience running developer enablement programs and managing community contribution workflows.
- Background in open-source practices and multi-language SDK delivery (Python primary; TypeScript/Java nice-to-have).
- Exposure to observability and security-by-design principles for developer-facing libraries.
- Comfortable collaborating across architecture, QA, DevOps, DX, platform, and product teams in matrixed organizations.
