The ICT and Security Systems Officer performs the role of a Local Area Network Administrator (LANA) and provides ICT support to users within the Australian Embassy, Athens, including ensuring business continuity in a crisis. The position is responsible for procuring the Embassy’s ICT and telephone services, and managing ICT equipment asset stocktakes, upgrades and audit responsibilities. The position also supports the Post Security Officer (PSO) by managing operational aspects of security, including managing security systems, overseeing the security guards, liaising with the Building Management and providing security advice to Embassy staff.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Undertake Local Area Network Administrator (LANA) duties including maintenance of the telephone and Wi-Fi systems, user accounts and connection issues in conjunction with DFAT Canberra and the Regional Technical Officer as appropriate.
• Oversee and support all ICT infrastructure and systems including hardware, software, security and communications while providing staff training and responsive support to ensure operational continuity during crises.
• Manage the full lifecycle of ICT assets including procurement, disposal and inventory control, preparing financial reports and maintaining vendor and customer account records as required.
• Provide technical and logistical support for visiting officials and assist with event preparation and management.
• Update and technically maintain the Embassy website.
• Under the direction of the Corporate Services Manager, manage the Embassy’s guarding and other security contracts and procurement, including the initial approach to market, preparing contracts and monitoring performance.
• Prepare advice for Embassy staff on relevant security issues including those arising at the Embassy premises.
• Manage practical aspects of the response to security incidents in close liaison with the PSO and report security incidents to Canberra.
• Maintain and manage security systems (e.g. alarms, CCTV) across Embassy facilities including controlled areas in the Embassy premises and residences, coordinating with building management on security issues and incident response.
• Carry out other duties as required.

Qualifications/Experience                                                                                  

• Medium level IT knowledge and experience.
• Sound written and oral communication skills in English and Greek.
• Demonstrated client service skills.
• Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
• High level of initiative and ability to work independently within a small team.
• Understanding of procurement policy and processes.
• Experience (or the ability to acquire knowledge) of ensuring building and perimeter security.
• Ability to manage and maintain security equipment (e.g. CCTV cameras, alarms).
