Role Purpose
The Head of IT Operations ensures stable, secure, and cost-efficient delivery of IT infrastructure and operational services—on-premises and in the cloud, with AWS as the primary platform and Azure supporting selected workloads. This includes leading teams across infrastructure, network, Linux administration, and client services. The role drives modernization of IT operations and ensures alignment with overall enterprise strategy. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transformation of IT operations through automation, standardization, and service improvement
- Drive a cloud-first strategy with AWS as the core platform, and Azure used where technically or commercially appropriate
- Ensure secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure services, including disaster recovery readiness
- Align operations with broader IT and business strategy; contribute to enterprise IT planning
- Establish and optimize ITSM processes and tools, including IT asset management and performance tracking (KPIs, OKRs)
- Manage infrastructure budgets and continuously drive cost optimization
- Build and lead a strong IT operations leadership team; define structure, roles, and workforce plans
- Act as trusted advisor to IT and business stakeholders; ensure services are reliable and business-aligned
- Collaborate with the Information Security Officer to ensure operational security standards are met
- Evaluate and adopt emerging infrastructure technologies with proven business impact
- Oversee services delivered by external partners and cloud providers
- Support IT integration during M&A activities, especially onboarding and infrastructure consolidation
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence
Required Competencies
- Proven leadership in global or multi-site IT operations environments
- Strong skills in infrastructure strategy, process improvement, and delivery models (on-prem / hybrid / cloud)
- Hands-on experience in AWS-based environments: automation, cost control, operations, monitoring, and security
- Working knowledge of Azure in enterprise environments
- Familiarity with nearshore/offshore resource models and vendor management
- Understanding of infrastructure-as-code, monitoring platforms, and self-service delivery models
- Experience with organizational change and implementing new IT architectures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities across IT and business domains
- English fluency, both written and spoken
Qualifications & Experience
- Several years of experience in senior IT operations leadership roles
- 5+ years of experience managing IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on AWS
- Experience in complex, global enterprise environments
- Proven track record in hybrid cloud and on-prem IT operations
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- AWS certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) are a plus
- Azure certifications are considered an advantage
