Cybersecurity Engineer | Associate

You will work directly with Leadership, IT, legal and product teams on a range of information security, data protection, and governance, risk and compliance activities, including policy compliance, vulnerability management, risk assessments, and incident response. You will receive high exposure to C-level management providing relevant reporting.

You will be responsible for the development and improvement of the overall security infrastructure for Cloud platforms like Azure. Belonging to the IT Organization, but dedicated to also supporting Product Teams, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining technology that meets both internal policies and standards, as well as the expectations of our external stakeholders. This will involve operating and continually improving existing information security tools, processes as well as the development of new processes in response to evolving threats and business opportunities. Together with the Tech team, you will help build and support a trustworthy, agile platform and network.  

Further, you will coordinate and monitor the cloud platforms on security, availability and performance aspects. You will advise our Product and R&D teams, leveraging in-depth technical knowledge to secure cloud workloads, field devices and assessing the risks of the solutions they are delivering. You will finally support audit reviews and the implementation of processes for security and compliance policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build, maintain, and test security systems and monitor their effectiveness
• Constantly strive to find vulnerabilities in hardware, software, and applications
• Plan and develop security plans for the company’s IT infrastructure
• Appropriately respond to security breaches and investigate how they occurred
• Work alongside associated stakeholders to ensure optimum security levels at all times
• Report to members of senior management on potential threats, proposed improvements, and ongoing security issues by delivering insightful reports based on findings
• Assess existing security issues and analyze risks by continuously conducting security assessments; maintain high Microsoft Security Score
• Investigate intrusion attempts and implement solid plans of incident response, learning from past shortcomings to create ever more robust security protocols
• Stay on top of industry standards and developments to ensure the organization stays ahead of the curve
• Consult R&D engineers on product security topics to help them ensure security and compliance across the whole lifecycle of a product
• Ensure that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls
• Prepare for the security audits and certifications

Background

• BSc or MSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar studies
• Exposure to cloud platforms Azure (preferably) or AWS
• Technical understanding of a range of enterprise IT and cloud-based architectures and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), networking, server infrastructure, operating systems, web applications, databases, containerization, and mobile
• Experience with DevOps tools for CI/CD, version control, Infrastructure as a Code (Terraform preferred, or CircleCI, GitHub, Ansible)
• Hands on experience with programming and scripting language (Python or Go)
• Good understanding of DevOps and SRE principles
• Experience conducting risk assessments, threat modeling, information security reviews and audits is welcomed
• Experience with security technologies and tooling is welcomed, e.g., vulnerability scanners, firewalls, network monitors, IAM, SIEM, IDS/IPS
• Experience in testing and detecting vulnerabilities in in-house designed hardware products is a plus
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a wider team, with minimal supervision
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English, tailored to different audiences, is necessary
• German language knowledge is a plus
