The Payroll Agent is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation while maintaining compliance with labor legislation and internal company policies. This role involves managing payroll data, calculating wages, benefits, and deductions, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
The Payroll Agent plays a key role in safeguarding confidentiality, maintaining accurate records, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect daily, weekly or monthly timesheets
- Calculate bonuses and allowances
- Prepare employees’ compensation by the end of each month using payroll software
- Schedule bank payments or hand out paychecks directly to employees
- Distribute payment statements and gather signed receipts (digital or paper)
- Report on payroll expenses
- Ensure wages and tax withholdings comply with regulations
- Enter new employees’ data (e.g. bank accounts and tax identification numbers) into internal databases
- Answer questions about compensation, benefits, taxes and insurance deductions
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Clerk or similar role
- Hands-on experience with HRIS and accounting software
- Strong math skills with an ability to spot numerical errors
- Good knowledge of labor legislation and payroll regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
