Job Description:

We are currently looking for an Energy Market Optimization Expertto join our RES & Storage Assets Optimization team in Paiania, Greece and play a key role in maximizing the value of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the greek electricity market.

In this highly analytical role, you will focus on the design, development, and implementation of advanced optimization models that enable optimal BESS participation in the Greek Balancing Market, while also supporting Day-Ahead and Intraday market strategies.

Your role will encompass:

• Mathematical Optimization Modelling :
  Design and implement Mathematical Optimization models (LP, MILP) to optimize BESS dispatch and participation in the Greek electricity markets, ensuring the maximization of captured opportunities under technical and market constraints.

• Market Strategy & Power Trading:
  Participate directly in trading activities across Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing markets, providing quantitative insights that enhance trading strategies and asset revenue optimization.

• Algorithmic Integration & Automation:
  Embed optimization model outputs into structured algorithmic workflows and automated bidding processes, ensuring seamless integration between optimization results and market execution.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  Work closely with trading, engineering, and asset optimization teams to translate operational constraints, market rules, and technical characteristics of BESS assets into robust mathematical formulations.

• Model Governance & Performance:
  Ensure model robustness, numerical stability, and operational reliability while maintaining alignment between optimization outputs and real-world asset behavior.

What you bring to the role:

• Academic Background:
  Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Postgraduate studies in Optimization, Energy Systems, or Operations Research are considered an advantage.

• Optimization & Quantitative Expertise:
  3+ years of proven experience designing Mixed Integer Programming (MIP/MILP) and Linear Programming (LP) models within energy markets, optimization, or quantitative energy environments.

• Programming & Algorithmic Implementation:
  Strong programming capability to translate optimization models into structured algorithmic workflows and automated bidding strategies.

• Energy Market Understanding:
  Good understanding of electricity markets (Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing); familiarity with BESS technical characteristics and flexibility modelling is considered a strong advantage.

• Analytical & Collaboration Skills:
  Strong mathematical modelling mindset, high attention to detail in model validation, and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional quantitative and trading teams.
