Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Quantitative Energy Data Scientist to join our RES & Storage Assets Optimization team in Paiania or Thessaloniki, Greece and play a key role in developing data-driven trading strategies that maximize the value of our portfolio in the greek electricity markets.

In this highly analytical role, you will focus on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quantitative models and algorithmic bidding strategies across the Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing markets. Combining energy market knowledge with advanced data science techniques, you will transform large volumes of market and operational data into actionable insights that enhance portfolio performance.

Your role will encompass:

• Quantitative Modelling & Trading Signal Development:
  Develop and backtest statistical and machine learning models to generate robust trading signals and support optimal participation of our portfolios in short-term electricity markets.

• Power Trading :
  Participate directly in daily trading activities across Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing markets, contributing quantitative insights that enhance bidding strategies and portfolio performance.

• Algorithmic Bidding & Automation:
  Assist in the development and implementation of algorithmic bidding strategies, embedding quantitative insights into automated decision-making workflows and trading systems.

• Energy Data Science & Analytics:
  Contribute to broader energy data science initiatives, including forecasting, predictive modelling, and performance analytics that support portfolio optimization and operational decision-making.

• Model Governance & Performance Monitoring:
  Continuously improve model performance through structured validation, monitoring, and backtesting frameworks, ensuring robustness and reliability of analytical solutions.

What you bring to the role:

• Academic Background:
  Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Postgraduate studies in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related disciplines are considered an advantage.

• Quantitative & Data Science Expertise:
  2+ years of experience developing statistical models, machine learning algorithms, or time-series forecasting models in quantitative or energy-related environments.

• Programming & Data Analysis:
  Strong technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and data analysis workflows, with the ability to translate quantitative insights into practical trading or optimization tools.

• Energy Market Understanding:
  2+ years of experience in power markets, quantitative analysis, or energy analytics; familiarity with Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing markets is considered a strong advantage.

• Analytical & Collaboration Skills:
  Strong quantitative mindset, high attention to detail in model validation, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional trading, analytics, and data science teams.
