The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Tails Placement Shiftboss | Επιστάτης Βάρδιας Απόθεσης Τελμάτων, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the TSF Chief Engineer of the Processing department in Skouries.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all dry stack tailings placement activities during the shift in accordance with the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) operating plan, engineering guidelines, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the conveyors, grasshoppers, radial stacker, dozers, compactors, and Pettibone handler for the transport, placement, spreading, and compaction of filtered tailings.
  • Monitor the quality, moisture content, and placement thickness of tailings to ensure compliance with stacking and stability requirements.
  • Coordinate and direct operators to achieve the desired stacking sequence, layer compaction, and slope configuration as instructed by the TSF Chief Engineer.
  • Inspect the stacking area, drainage systems, and equipment condition regularly to identify and report abnormalities or potential hazards.
  • Communicate with the control room, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure continuous, safe operation and resolve operational issues.
  • Supervise contractor and company personnel working within the TSF area, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shift reports, inspection records, and equipment logs, and communicate operational progress to supervisors.
  • Support maintenance scheduling, lubrication, and minor servicing of tailings handling equipment when required.
  • Participate actively in safety meetings, risk assessments, and emergency response drills.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline across the TSF operations team.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mining, mineral processing, construction, or tailings storage facility (TSF) operations.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leading hand role, preferably within a dry stack tailings or bulk material handling environment.
  • Proven experience in the operation, coordination, or maintenance of conveyor systems, stacking equipment, dozers, compactors, and similar heavy machinery.
  • Experience working in outdoor, field-based industrial environments, with an understanding of geotechnical and drainage aspects of tailings management.
  • Additional certifications in supervision, health and safety, or heavy equipment operation will be considered an advantage.
  • Formal training in tailings management, geotechnical awareness, or environmental monitoring is desirable.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary shift teams, manage production targets, and train or mentor personnel while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute daily work activities under varying conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordination across departments (operations, maintenance, and engineering).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in operational reporting, data recording, and performance monitoring of tailings placement activities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changing operational or weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Office, reporting tools).
  • Experience with technical drawing or layout software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar) will be considered an asset.
  • English proficiency will be considered an advantage.
  • Driving license.
