The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Environmental Officer | Υπεύθυνος Περιβάλλοντος”, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the Environmental Manager of the Environmental department in Skouries.

Main Responsibilities:

• Participation in monthly or quarterly audits made by external third parties (EBRD, IEA, etc.).
• Member of the internal environmental scientific auditing committee to ensure compliance with the environmental terms.
• Contribution in the implementation of Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) according to ESIA and EIA.
• Implementation of Sustainability Integrated Management Systems (SIMS) according to corporate standards.
• Implementation of Environmental Management and Energy Systems according to ISO 14001:2015, ISO 14064:2018 & ISO 50001:2018.
• Supervision of company’s non-mineral wastes management and proper reporting.
• Daily inspections and monitoring of the site compliance according to the environmental terms and management systems.
• Setting objectives and targets for continuous improvement at the site’s environmental performance.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports including details on environmental compliance, incidents, monitoring, and rehabilitation progress.
• Review and editing of environmental studies regarding the site’s environmental performance.
• Cooperation with the site’s supervisors to incorporate environmental programs.
• Contribution to the preparation of supportive documentation for the company’s arguments against external claims and grievances related to environmental issues.
• Participation & cost control to site’s environmental budget.
• Progress monitoring of environmental related projects.
• Environmental trainings for HG employees and contractors.
• Participation at site management meetings.
• Assistance / substitute to Environmental site supervisor.
• Cooperation with inspectors, auditors, consultants, and visitors to provide the requested information during site visits.

Requirements:

• Bachelor university degree related to the environmental sciences (Mining engineer, Civil Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Geologist, Environmentalist).
• Five (5) years in the field of environmental inspections and/or audits or of an engineering or scientific position.
• Advanced communication skills, both oral and written in Greek and English.
• Certification for internal environmental audits will be considered as a plus.
• Ability to operate timely and efficiently under tight time limits and adverse conditions.
• Good knowledge of general IT skills (Microsoft Office).
• Good physical condition.
• Driving license (category B).
