The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Metallurgical Engineer – Process Control | Μεταλλουργός Μηχανικός – Ρύθμισης Διεργασίας”, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the Metallurgy Manager of the Processing department in Skouries.
Main Responsibilities:
· Provide daily technical expertise and support to the Control Room, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure the process control system operates safely and optimally.
· Design, implement, modify, and maintain process control system infrastructure (PLC, SCADA, DCS, backup, and telemetry systems) to monitor, control, and optimize metallurgical production and safety.
· Develop and tune control algorithms and multivariable control strategies for key process parameters (e.g., power, temperature, pressure, flow, chemical composition) across critical process areas.
· Lead process control projects, including system upgrades, modifications, and implementation of advanced control solutions.
· Continuously monitor real-time process parameters and proactively tune control loops to maintain optimal operating conditions and mitigate process disturbances.
· Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (electrical, mechanical, and process) to ensure smooth integration and operation of control systems.
· Provide training and technical support to Control Room Operators, instrumentation, and electrical personnel in troubleshooting and maintaining control systems.
· Participate in senior leadership responsibilities, including annual budget planning and strategic input for the Process Plant.
· Utilize advanced data analysis tools to monitor trends, identify issues, and improve overall process performance and system reliability.
· Ensure compliance with safety practices and regulatory standards, both in accordance with Greek legislation and Eldorado Gold requirements.
Requirements:
· Tertiary qualification in Process, Control Systems, or Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering (extractive metallurgy) or in Minerals Processing including curricula covering process control and instrumentation disciplines.
· 6+ years of experience in process control within heavy industry (mining, mineral processing, oil & gas, or chemical sectors).
· Strong knowledge of process control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) and industrial instrumentation.
· Proven experience in troubleshooting, optimisation, and hardware/software maintenance.
· Proficiency in PLC programming and use of electrical diagnostic tools.
· Project management experience with the ability to handle multiple initiatives.
· Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex process issues.
· Effective communicator with teamwork and leadership abilities.
· Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Process, Electrical, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or Metallurgy).
· Fluent in English, proficient in documentation, and comfortable with Microsoft Office.
· Valid driver’s license.
