Systems and Security Engineer

 

The Systems and Security role is a part of the engineering team in an up-and-coming network operator and Telecommunications Service Provider (mobile and fixed), covering technologies such as: Virtualization, Automation, Infrastructure planning, Systems Monitoring and Security, etc. 

The role is an opportunity for a passionate Systems Engineer that wants to be part of an exciting project, an ISP/MSP in the making. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Design and development of a supporting infrastructure (physical and virtual) for telecommunication services and applications 
• Design and implementation of security policies/measures for systems and applications of mobile services 
• Management of suppliers and subcontractors providing related products and services 
• Participation and authoring in RFPs/RFQs 
• Specification and documentation of engineering, operations and change management procedures for the systems and the security framework 
• KPI definition and monitoring of systems performance 

 

Necessary Skills:

• Excellent knowledge and experience in systems (physical, virtual, public cloud) management and in virtualization platforms / operating systems: 

• Windows server 
• Hyper-V 
• VMWare 
• Linux 

• Very good knowledge and experience in the specification and implementation of security measures and operating procedures for the systems and their hosted applications 
• Experience with security technologies/appliances, such as: next-generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, authentication/authorization systems etc. 
• Knowledge and experience in managing virtual servers and other computing resources in public cloud environments (Azure & AWS) 
• Knowledge in managing Virtual Machines in Hyper-V and VMWare environments 
• Knowledge and understanding of systems networking requirements and basic networking principles  
• Experience with main internet services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.) 

 

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience in managing large-scale technology projects 
• Experience with resource management in public cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS) 
• Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g. TICK stack) 
• Programming/scripting (Python, BASH, etc.) will be considered an asset 

 

Necessary Qualifications:

• University Degree or relevant, in Engineering / Computer Science / Informatics 
• At least 4 years of experience in the management of computer systems / servers 
• Fluency in English 
• Related Technology certifications will be considered an asset
