Invitation for Expression of Interest for Clinical Skills Tutors (Sessional)

The Department of Basic and Clinical Sciences at the University of Nicosia Medical School invites expressions of interest (EOI) for well-qualified and motivated clinicians of any specialty to support our team for the sessional post of Clinical Skill tutor at our Athens campus at Elliniko.
The University of Nicosia Medical School aims to achieve excellence in teaching, research, community service and patient care, through its diverse and talented community of individuals.
The successful candidates will provide their services at our Athens campus at Elliniko and will act as sessional Clinical Skills Tutors, to groups of medical students in the MD program when the need for tutors arises. Training will be provided to the selected candidates who will be accountable to the Clinical Skills Lead as well as the Programme Coordinator.
Main Responsibilities:
- Attend an introductory tutor training session
- Attend the timetabled sessions and commit to tutoring for an agreed number of teaching sessions
- Monitor students’ attendance and performance
- Read and learn the tutor notes and any other material sent to them, and come to each session fully prepared to deliver them
- Follow the evidence-based tutor notes exactly, because students will be assessed on this approach in their OSCEs and clinical examinations.
- Troubleshoot group and individual problems as they arise (support from the Leads will be available if needed)
- Attend the pre-session tutor briefing and be punctual
- Attend the post session tutors’ briefing
- Engage in the tutor evaluation processes
- Attend tutor development training sessions and any other mandatory staff training as required by the Medical School
Requirements:
- Be health care professionals (e.g., qualified medical practitioners- welcoming to all specialties)
- Display punctuality and diligence when performing their duties and communicating with the Medical School
- Show an interest in medical students and their education
- Have excellent communication skills and very good command of the English language (spoken and written)
- Be willing to engage with teaching material in hard copy or electronic format
- Be able to reflect on their work and accept constructive feedback
Remuneration: Depends on the type and length of clinical skills sessions you will deliver.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The ideal candidates should be eligible to work in the European Union/ European Economic Area and should have license certification from the Central Health Council and be registered with their local Medical Association Council.
