We are looking for an experienced Scheduler Specialist to join our team in an exciting period of change and growth for our business. You will be working in a Portfolio of projects in the Construction Sector, for a fixed-term contract. The selected Scheduler Specialist will need to have experience in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare baseline schedules and schedule basis documents.
- Understands work scope and is familiar with logical sequences in terms of engineering, manufacturing, construction and commissioning disciplines in power generation plants
- Understands projects’ work breakdown structure and works with the projects’ teams in the development of the structure for progress measurement, scheduling and project control
- Assists in the development and maintenance of WBS and helps insure that project coding is effectively used.
- Provision of specific assistance to Project Managers to drive schedule performance and ensure overall project delivery.
- Coordinates schedules from multiple contractors and disciplines and incorporates the information gathered into the overall project master time schedule
- Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths.
- Evaluate activity sequences for constructability.
- Review schedules with project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate and timely data is incorporated in the schedule and track critical issues.
- Prepares and updates look-ahead schedules that reflect the activities in priority.
- Performs probabilistic analysis of completion dates and potential alternatives. Presents riskbased analysis of most likely completion and expected deviation range
- Assists in coordination of schedule input from all parts of the organization.
- Perform job-site walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.
- Review Contractor’s Schedules and recommend necessary changes.
- Develops and/or review recovery plans as required.
- Assess impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities and report to the project team.
- Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in the developing alternate methods for corrective action.
- Expert ability to develop CPM schedule logic for engineering, procurement and construction.
- Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis.
- Supports various levels of project reporting and presentations as required.
- Highlighting promptly to the PMO and Project Manager any corrective actions required to maintain project schedule.
- Liaison with internal stakeholders, Clients, third-party Consultants, Contractors, and other Stakeholders as appropriate and maintaining collaborative relationships.
- Analyze change orders for schedule impacts.
- Assisting Project Managers with resource allocations and constraints, schedule and criticalpath analysis, earned value reporting.
- Able to resource load schedule and perform remedial schedule risk analysis.
- Familiar with construction contracting and the scheduling implications of contract terms.
- Measures progress and reviews invoices of contractors.
- Knowledgeable of scope control and change management and has demonstrated ability to incorporate directed changes into schedule baseline. Knowledgeable in earned value methodology (EVM).
- Conducts or assists in performance measurement and associated schedule trends.
- Facilitate or participate in project meetings (i.e schedule review meetings, progress meetings, coordination meetings, constructability review meetings etc) as required by the project team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- PMP/CAPM certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5+years’ of construction management experience in general project planning, scheduling and control, and resource management across projects of varying size and complexity.
- Advanced user of MS Project and Primavera P6 (minimum 5+years’ experience) including analysis of baselines, predecessors / successors, dependencies, critical path, earned value, lag, float, constraints, S curves, SPI etc).
- Experience in construction business and ability to approve/accept schedules produced by EPC contractors.
- Strong technical experience in delivery of projects in engineering consultancies and/or related construction projects.
- Experience creating and managing large-scale construction schedules.
- Strong knowledge of project planning and scheduling, resource management, risk management, programme management methodologies and industry best practice.
- Technical proficiency in project planning and scheduling across individual and portfolio of projects, along with the ability to adapt, innovate and meet changing demands.
- Previous experience of working in a PMO will be advantageous.
- Previous experience as a Portfolio Project Scheduler will be advantageous.
- MS Office Suite (proficient user of MS Excel & MS Powerpoint).
- Advanced user of MS Project and Primavera P6 including analysis of baselines, predecessors / successors, dependencies, critical path, earned value, lag, float, constraints, S curves, SPI etc).
- MS Power Bi (user of Power Bi advantageous).
- Proven track record in dealing with complex scheduling issues proactively and in a timely fashion and ability to achieve results within the set timeframe.
