As a Junior Sommelier at W Costa Navarino, you will play a crucial role in curating and presenting exceptional wines to our guests, enhancing their overall dining experience. Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of an innovative and diverse wine list that complements the resort's culinary offerings.
- Monitor and manage wine inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and rotation.
- Provide warm, engaging, and knowledgeable service to guests, guiding them through the wine selection process.
- Offer expert recommendations based on guests' preferences, menu choices, and occasions.
- Execute flawless wine service, including opening and presenting bottles with precision and style.
- Share insights into the characteristics and stories behind selected wines, enhancing the overall dining experience.
- Collaborate with the sommelier team to organize and execute captivating wine events and tastings for guests.
- Present information on the unique features of showcased wines in an engaging and approachable manner.
- Participate in ongoing sommelier team training sessions and contribute to the development of junior staff.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging vineyards, and new wine releases.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a sommelier role or a relevant position within the hospitality industry.
- Strong passion for wines, including in-depth knowledge of global varietals, wine regions, and pairings.
- Certification from a recognized sommelier program is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-energy environment.
