Job Description:
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Management Team, based in Athens, Greece. In this role, you will actively contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of the organization's next-generation data platform, working within a Microsoft Azure Cloud environment. You will be involved across the full data lifecycle, collaborating closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions.
Your role will encompass:
- Design, build, test, and optimize ETL processes in line with defined data architectures.
- Process and manage data from multiple sources within cloud-based data platforms.
- Collaborate with the Data Engineering team through daily stand-ups, providing technical input and support.
- Mentor junior Data Engineers and support knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts, participating in workshops to validate business requirements.
- Maintain and enhance reporting schemas and internal SQL-based data warehouse systems.
- Monitor and support the daily operation of Data Warehouse pipelines and scheduled data flows.
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- Master's degree will be considered an asset
- +3 years' of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts (ETL, staging/target areas, OLAP, dimensional modeling, data marts).
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and Databricks will be considered an asset.
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Dedicated SQL Pool will be considered a plus.
- Familiarity with Big Data concepts and NoSQL databases (e.g. Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB) is an advantage.
- Experience with source control, code repositories, and versioning practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Strong motivation for continuous learning and professional growth.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Previous experience in DWH/BI projects within the energy, metals, or retail sectors will be considered a plus.
