The role is based at Daios Cove - Agios Nikolaos, Crete. This is a permanent position.
The Assistant Accountant supports the Finance Department in managing the hotel’s financial operations while participating in the ongoing integration of AI and automation tools. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, revenue reconciliation, and expense management, while assisting in the gradual implementation and optimization of AI-enhanced accounting procedures.
Some of the responsibilities you will be entrusted with:
Revenue & Income Audit
- Assist in daily revenue reconciliation (Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, etc.)
- Verify and reconcile daily sales reports from POS and PMS systems
- Support night audit review and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure accurate posting of room charges, taxes, and service charges
Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices and match with purchase orders and delivery notes
- Coordinate with the departments for invoice verification
- Maintain supplier accounts and reconcile statements
General Accounting
- Assist in preparing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger
- Support month-end closing procedures
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports
- Monitor departmental expenses and budget variances
Payroll Support
- Assist with payroll preparation (timesheets, overtime, service charge distribution)
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and hotel policies
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Maintain proper documentation and filing systems
- AI Integration & Process Improvement Responsibilities
- Participate in AI system testing, training, and rollout activities
- Identify repetitive tasks suitable for automation
- Provide feedback on system performance and improvement areas
- Maintain clean, structured financial data to support AI learning models
- Assist in developing updated SOPs incorporating AI procedures
- Support change management within the Finance Department

Skills and qualifications to help you succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (hospitality preferred)
- Very good command of the English language
- Familiarity with hotel PMS and POS systems
- Knowledge of ERP systems
- Good understanding of accounting systems and digital workflows
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Adaptability to new technologies and process changes
- Experience with data analytics or reporting tools
- Strong communication skills for cross-department coordination
