Pet City Group also offers a range of pet care services, including grooming and veterinarian care, as part of our mission to provide the best customer experience to our beloved pets and their parents. We are currently looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Finance team.

 

Your role as an Accounting Manager

As an Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the full accounting cycle of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely accounting reporting across all business operations. You will be responsible for leading the month-end closing process, strengthening accounting controls, and driving process improvements that enhance efficiency and reliability. Through accurate accounting data and strong governance, you will help ensure operational stability and ultimately deliver a reliable experience for pets and their parents.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Accounting Cycle & Month-End Closing: Manage the end-to-end accounting cycle, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee tax obligations and ensure full compliance with local tax regulations and statutory requirements. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors when necessary.
  • MyData Management: Ensure accurate transmission and reconciliation of transactions through the MyData platform. Monitor compliance and optimize electronic bookkeeping processes.
  • Process Improvements & Efficiency: Review and redesign accounting processes to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and reduce closing timelines. Implement automation and structured workflows where applicable.
  • Inventory Control – Shrinkage & Damages: Monitor and reconcile inventory balances, track stock shortages and damages, analyze variances, and collaborate with Operations to implement corrective actions.
  • Reporting & KPI Monitoring: Manage the reporting calendar and ensure timely preparation of management reports. Track and analyze key accounting KPIs, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Work Allocation: Lead and develop the accounting team, allocate tasks effectively based on priorities and deadlines, and ensure deliverables are completed on time and with high accuracy.
  • Hands-On Execution: Maintain a “doer” mentality by actively supporting daily accounting operations when workload requires, ensuring continuity and adherence to deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel, ERP & Data Analysis: Utilize strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, analysis tools) to support reporting, reconciliations, and accounting insights.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role supervising a team. Experience in retail or multi-store environments will be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven experience with MyData platform management and electronic bookkeeping compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mindset.
