Maltby & Greek is a leading importer and distributor of the finest Greek food and wine to the UK and is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their dynamic team working fully remotely in Greece.
We are looking for a diligent and capable Accounts Assistant with previous experience within the finance function of an SME, preferably in the Food, Retail or FMCG industry.
Founded in 2012, the company has seen consistent year-on-year growth and is now looking to expand further into the UK and overseas.

About the role:
The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the company. Acting as a first point of contact, the successful candidate will ensure accurate, timely, and professional communication with suppliers, customers and colleagues. Performing core accounting tasks and supporting the financial operations of the group in our London and Greece offices.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain and update sales and purchase ledgers
- Process invoices, payments and credit card transactions
- Prepare payment lists and assist with payment runs
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, direct debit collections and cash
- Reconciliations of supplier statements
- Assist with month-end reporting and journal entries
- Support VAT return preparation and submission
- Managing the accounts inbox and liaising with suppliers and customers to resolve queries
- Co-ordinate with the procurement team in Greece to ensure Producers invoices and payments are managed in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department
- Credit control, chasing aged debt via phone & email ensuring strict credit terms and limits are applied to customers
- Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a SME in the UK/Greece, preferably in the Food & Beverage or FMCG industry with a background in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience).
You will be highly proficient in the use of Excel and competent in other Office applications
You will be self-motivated, energetic, and well organised.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

- Quickbooks, Dear
- Stripe, Magento, Expend
- Food, Drinks, or FMCG sector
- Working in/with Greece
- Multicurrency
