We are looking for a Financial Accountant at our office in Athens.
Role
As part of a highly motivated team your main role is to perform accounting transactions accurately through timely preparation of journal entries & account reconciliations. It is important to understand and implement billing/revenue and cost accounting processes and practices and consistently exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results.
Main Responsibilities
- You will be primarily responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day maintenance of an accurate ledger, ensuring timely and correct recording of transactions.
- You will demonstrate efficiency and accuracy in suppliers’ and general offices' expense invoices entry.
- You will be taking care of all accounting procedures related to tax liabilities (VAT, Social Security, etc.).
- You will attend the preparation of the cash flow and management of inflows/outflows (control of cash box, bank transfers, etc.).
- Clients’ reconciliation (outstanding balances and payment schedule).
- Suppliers’ reconciliation (outstanding balances and payment schedule).
- You will be very competent in invoicing and supporting any client-related issues.
- Initiate research and resolution of discrepancies and issues.
- You will work closely with the team to support the preparation of P&L, other ad hoc reports and analysis and special comparative reports as requested by management.
- Maintain and nurture excellent relations with customers and partners.
- Foster excellent relationships with colleagues and departments to ensure cross-departmental efficiencies.
- Demonstrate personal accountability that delivers good value and drives results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ corporate experience required in a similar role (travel industry experience would be considered a plus).
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and tax frameworks.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- First-rate written and verbal communication skills in Greek and English.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Results-driven personality, with energy, commitment and a passion for personal development.
- Creative thinking, problem solving with ability to meet and maintain required performance standards.
- Capacity to work independently, while staying aligned with company policies and departmental goals.
- Strong work ethic with team-oriented mindset with the ability to foster a positive work environment and the will to support colleagues.
