Senior Accountant position in pharmaceutical company
Job Overview
A small and international science oriented pharmaceutical company focused on R&D, Intellectual Property, Regulatory and manufacturing of medicines, a preferred generic partner for leading pharmaceutical companies and one of the most dynamic and fastest growing companies in southern Europe, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join and support the finance department in Athens and abroad.
The ideal candidate will support the department with bookkeeping, accounting and finance tasks and will closely collaborate with the Senior Manager of the department and the external Accountants for the submission of Tax obligations. The role will be reporting to the Senior Financial Manager and his/her responsibilities will be:
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately and promptly recorded to SoftOne ERP.
- Responsible for gathering and organizing inbound and outbound invoices for the HQ and its EU affiliate.
- Verify, classify and record invoices in internal system for the HQ and its EU affiliate.
- Update accounts payable and receivable and perform reconciliations for HQ and its EU affiliate.
- Issuing and handling of the invoices. Follow up with the customers on payments deadlines.
- Monitor incoming payments and ensure proper posting.
- Banks reconciliations.
- Follow all procedures accurately.
- Maintain digital and physical financial records.
- Perform various period-end financial close activities within specific deadlines and manage discrepancies.
- Have the control of the department during the absence of the Senior Manager and export monthly financial outcomes / budget, reporting, cash flow statements.
- Investigate and propose to management EU and GR funding R&D programmes. Seek for fundraising opportunities extensively in Greece and abroad.
- Maintain financial data on the company’s participation in national and EU funding programs.
- Assist with ad hoc accounting, tax and finance projects.
- Liaise with external accountants for tax and other accounting matters.
Candidate’s profile
- BSc or/and Master’s in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration/Economics
- 6-10 years of proven relevant working experience (in pharmaceutical industry is desirable)
- Excellent English oral and written communication
- PC literacy (word, excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems) Experience in Softone1 will be considered an asset.

- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally.
