Senior Accounting Manager

Senior Accounting Manager

In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and integrity across all accounting functions, including those related to group companies in Greece and abroad. You will collaborate closely with the accounting team and senior management to establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

Reporting to: Financial Controller

 

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, organize, and monitor daily activities of the accounting department, including processes tailored to group companies both domestically and internationally (e.g consolidation and business combinations, revenue recognition etc.)

• Ensure accuracy and timely completion of accounting entries, complying with Greek Accounting Standards as well as international accounting standards where applicable

• Monitor and manage tax compliance, including VAT-INTRASTAT-VIES, ΦΜΥ, and withheld taxes, for both domestic and international transactions (e.g transfer pricing)

• Oversee proper documentation and registration of transaction documents and invoices, adhering to local and international requirements

• Verify monthly balances and supervise commercial-accounting and warehouse agreements processes across group entities

• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes for both domestic and international operations

• Participate in and oversee the preparation of annual financial statements, including consolidated statements for group entities, ensuring compliance with local and international reporting standards

• Collaborate with auditors and other external stakeholders on tax and accounting matters, assisting in the preparation of audit schedules and financial statements for both domestic and international entities

• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, taking into account the diverse operational landscape of group companies

• Possess knowledge of corporate legal matters relevant to group structures, including establishment processes and amendments for statutory entities both domestically and internationally

• Provide training and guidance to accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team

• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring compliance across all group entities

 

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Master's degree or ACCA/CIMA certifications are desirable

• A’ class accountant license and excellent knowledge of legal entities taxation

• Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or in a similar role, with at least 10 years' experience in a large company (100+ employees) with multinational commercial operations

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, tax laws, and fiscal practices in both Greece and internationally

• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (preferably Entersoft)

• Excellent proficiency in MS Office tools

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

• Advanced proficiency in both Greek and English, both written and verbal

• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills

• Ability to thrive in a team environment, with a positive attitude, results orientation, and a proactive approach to solutions

• High ethical standards, integrity, flexibility, and adaptability
