The Vendor Relations and Procurement Associate is responsible for researching and identifying new vendor opportunities, managing supplier relationships, introducing new sourcing projects, and driving procurement strategies to support business growth. This role requires strong communication, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of food industry trends to ensure our product portfolio remains competitive and responsive to customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify new potential vendors to explore sourcing opportunities and evaluate their suitability for partnership.
- Introduce new projects and sourcing interests to vendors, acting as the liaison between the company and suppliers.
- Facilitate and manage vendor communications and relationships, including setting up introductory video calls, follow-ups, and ongoing collaboration touchpoints.
- Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify additional products or ingredients that the company could source, helping expand the product range and stay ahead of industry demands.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality, pricing, and service standards, and address any issues that arise.
- Maintain accurate records of vendor contracts, communications, product specifications, and procurement activities.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Food Science, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to conduct market research and analyze industry trends.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with procurement or ERP software is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sourcing regulations
Preferred Experience:
- Experience sourcing food products (including specialty, perishable, and shelf-stable items).
- 2+ years of experience in vendor management, procurement, or sourcing, preferably in the food industry.
- Familiarity with vendor qualification processes and sustainability initiatives.
- Experience working with culinary or foodservice teams to align sourcing with customer needs.
