ICT Infrastructure Systems Engineer
Role responsibilities:
- The ICT Infrastructure Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of the airport’s infrastructure systems and data centers, critical to maintaining business continuity and supporting the strategic objectives of Heraklion Crete International Airport by delivering high availability, performance, and security across all infrastructure components.
- Ensures annual infrastructure and data center availability meets or exceeds 99%.
- Oversees data center operations including power, cooling and physical security.
- Performs capacity planning, upgrades, replacements, and preventive maintenance of infrastructure systems.
- Maintains patch panels, cable trays, and enforces labeling standards.
- Manages and maintains DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring) tools.
- Maintains and troubleshoots structured cabling systems in coordination with vendors and support teams.
- Conducts regular testing, certification, and documentation of all ICT cabling.
- Repairs and expands physical connectivity across the airport campus.
- Administers and maintains the Access Control system, including door controllers, card readers, and biometric devices.
- Coordinates with the security team to ensure compliance with aviation security standards.
- Oversees the CCTV system, ensuring 24/7 recording, storage, and retrieval of video footage.
- Maintains and supports radio communication systems for airports PMR system (ground to ground communications).
- Troubleshoots handheld radios, base stations and repeaters in coordination with outsourced support team.
- Manages DAS infrastructure to ensure cellular signal coverage in all areas.
- Leads and manages 24/7 operations and maintenance supervising the support contractor teams.
- Ensures ITSM process for physical access and systems troubleshooting.
- Ensures that all the support tickets opened through ITSM Tool are closed within the scheduled time to achieve high quality of service.
- Maintains and supports the airport’s PMR (Private Mobile Radio) system for ground communications.
- Troubleshoots handheld radios, base stations, and repeaters in collaboration with support teams.
- Manages DAS (Distributed Antenna System) infrastructure to ensure consistent cellular coverage across all areas.
- Leads and supervises 24/7 operations and maintenance activities, managing support contractor teams.
- Ensures adherence to ITSM processes for physical access and systems troubleshooting.
- Monitors and ensures timely resolution of support tickets via the ITSM tool to maintain high service quality.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and project managers to gather requirements and delivers tailored infrastructure solutions.
- Participates in high-level design and implementation of infrastructure projects aligned with corporate standards.
- Participates in annual disaster recovery exercises to ensure infrastructure readiness.
- Supports internal and external ICT audits by maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with organizational policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, ICT Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in complex ICT environments, with a focus on infrastructure systems, data centers, and physical connectivity.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
