Maintenance Supervisor

Role Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor is not only responsible for managing maintenance, energy efficiency, and safety across all hotel facilities but is also expected to actively participate in the daily technical operations. This is a hands-on role, where the successful candidate will work alongside the maintenance team, performing, supervising, and troubleshooting a wide range of technical tasks.
The ideal candidate is comfortable being both in the field and in a supervisory position, leading by example and ensuring that all technical aspects of the properties are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations Coordination:
- Supervise daily maintenance operations across the properties, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all technical systems and infrastructure.
- Provide support and guidance to the team during critical or complex technical tasks.
Technology and Systems Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of HVAC, security systems, elevators, lighting, and other technical infrastructure.
- Coordinate with IT teams for high-tech systems like guest room automation, Wi-Fi, and communication systems.
Equipment and Asset Management:
- Guide the lifecycle management of all hotel equipment and assets.
- Plan for equipment upgrades, replacements, and capital expenditure needs.
Facility Inspections:
- Conduct inspections across the properties to identify and resolve technical faults or risks and guarantee all facilities meet all safety protocols.
- Maintain and update all files and records regarding ISO 9001 procedures, Marriott International Inc audit and any other audit relevant to technical issues.
Team Leadership & Support:
- Work closely with the engineering/maintenance team, training staff in new technologies, safety standards, and best practices. assigning tasks and collaborating on technical solutions.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to technicians and support staff.
- Develop a culture of proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
- Participate in the scheduling and execution of preventive maintenance tasks.
- Ensure timely resolution of technical problems to minimize downtime and avoid guest discomfort.
Operational Readiness/Opening & Closing Procedures:
- Be physically present during the opening and closing of the property each season, managing and executing all relevant technical procedures.
Emergency Response
- Lead hands-on response to emergencies, such as system breakdowns, power failures, floods, or fire-related incidents.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during incidents and that the engineering team is trained accordingly.
Energy Management and Sustainability Initiatives:
- Implement energy-saving measures and oversee energy consumption monitoring.
- Promote environmentally sustainable practices within maintenance operations.
Support to Administration / Budget Development & Cost Control
- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget & action plan.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors on-site, ensuring proper execution of outsourced work.
- Assist with budgeting, reporting, and planning but with clear prioritization of field presence.
Guest Satisfaction and Property Appearance:
- Ensure all maintenance work maintains or elevates guest experience and property aesthetics.
- Respond promptly to guest requests affecting comfort and safety.
Requirements:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineer Degree
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Chief Engineer in a 5 star Hotel of an International or local Hotel Company
- Excellent knowledge of HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing systems.
- Good English & Greek language with the ability to write and speak effectively
- Excellent user of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows and Internet
- Ability to coordinate effectively and motivate a team, towards the achievement of important organizational goals
