Senior Data Governance Engineer

Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Engineer to join our Data Management Team, based in Athens, Greece. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks, policies, and tools that ensure the quality, integrity, security, and effective management of organizational data. You will work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, IT teams, and business stakeholders to support and advance data governance initiatives across the organization.

Your role will encompass:

• Design and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks, including data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data security.
• Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
• Enhance and manage the Data Governance Platform, including the Business Data Catalogue and Data Lineage.
• Evaluate, implement, and manage data governance tools, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with governance frameworks.
• Lead workshops with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, define data lifecycle processes, and document functional specifications.
• Perform data profiling and analysis to understand data structures, definitions, and usage across systems.
• Collaborate with Data Stewards and Data Owners to define and implement data quality rules, controls, and remediation processes.
• Develop and maintain data quality reporting, scorecards, and monitoring mechanisms.
• Support continuous improvement of data governance processes, tools, and practices.

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Master's degree will be considered an asset
• +4 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related roles.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience with SQL and Python.
• Experience with Data Governance tools such as MS Purview, SAS Business Data Network, or SAS Dataflux will be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of SAS code will be considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• Experience in DWH/BI projects, ideally within the energy, metals, or retail sectors, will be considered a plus.
